We were very enthused to see Scarlett in the shop this month! Allow us to make introductions: This is Scarlett, Tim T.'s 1965 Ford GT40. Isn't she a beauty?

The Ford GT40 was originally designed and produced to win sports races against Ferrari in the 1960s. The name GT40 represents 'Grand Touring' with the 40 designation representing the overall height of 40 inches. Ford actually won several titles in the late sixties with the GT40. Today, car enthusiasts like our customer Tim, have built several custom replicas inspired by the originals.

As mentioned previously on the MMP blog, the state of Texas requires an inspection by an ASE certified technician be completed before registration and title of all custom vehicles. A 'custom vehicle' is defined as a vehicle manufactured to resemble a vehicle that is at least 25 years old and of a model year after 1948, and has been altered from the manufacturer's original design or has a body constructed from materials not original to the vehicle.
Prior to receiving your custom vehicle license plates, the following safety conditions must be met:
Vehicle must pass an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Safety Inspection.
ASE Technician must complete and sign the Form VTR-852
This is how Scarlett was introduced to MMP, and our ASE Master Technician, Marquise, who performed the safety inspection and completed the form. Thanks again to Tim for bringing Scarlett in and for sharing your pictures! MMP is glad to have made the inspection process easy.
For additional information on registering your custom vehicle, see the Texas DMV website. When you are ready to get your vehicle on the road please stop by. We look forward to being introduced to your special project soon!
