You may know that synthetic oils outperform conventional oils, but you might not understand why. The differences begin at the molecular level. Synthetics don’t contain the impurities and molecular irregularities inherent to conventional oils. The pure, uniform molecular structures in synthetics impart properties that provide wear protection, extreme-temperature performance and fuel efficiency conventional lubricants just can’t touch – all of which helps you save money with vehicles that run better and last longer. MMP is pleased to announce that we now offer AMSOIL's full line of synthetic lubricants, filters, and much more. Because AMSOIL synthetic lubricants are chemically engineered to form pure lubricants, they contain no contaminants or molecules that don't serve a designed purpose, and as a result: AMSOIL shields your automobile with 75% more engine protection against horsepower loss and wear than required by a leading industry standard, extending th ... read more

We were very enthused to see Scarlett in the shop this month! Allow us to make introductions: This is Scarlett, Tim T.'s 1965 Ford GT40. Isn't she a beauty? The Ford GT40 was originally designed and produced to win sports races against Ferrari in the 1960s. The name GT40 represents 'Grand Touring' with the 40 designation representing the overall height of 40 inches. Ford actually won several titles in the late sixties with the GT40. Today, car enthusiasts like our customer Tim, have built several custom replicas inspired by the originals. As mentioned previously on the MMP blog, the state of Texas requires an inspection by an ASE certified technician be completed before registration and title of all custom vehicles. A 'custom vehicle' is defined as a vehicle manufactured to resemble a vehicle that is at least 25 years old and of a model year after 1948, and has been altered from the ... read more

Drivers often underestimate the importance of preparing cars for the winter. Freezes can wreak havoc on auto systems, such as cracking expensive engine blocks (in extreme weather) when the water/anti-freeze ratio is incorrect, brittle belts that may snap or break, and weak batteries that can leave you stranded. A properly maintained vehicle can help you avoid an unplanned road emergency when the weather drops. 1. Fluids - Coolant should be flushed and refilled every 24 months. Be sure to mix antifreeze with water because full strength antifreeze has a lower freeze point than when mixed with water. 2. Battery - Check the battery and charging system ahead of time for optimum performance. We recommend replacing batteries that are over three years old. 3. Tires - Tire pressure should be checked weekly, as they can easily lose pressure when temperatures drop. Don't forget to also check your spare! MMP now offers nitrogen for your tir ... read more

MMP is glad to announce: we have nitrogen! You are probably thinking (and yes we can hear you): “Nitrogen? Whaaaaaat?” You probably didn’t even know nitrogen could be used anywhere on a car, right? Well there is a growing trend out there among the more discerning to use nitrogen to inflate car and truck tires instead of just plain air. Why? Check out these main key benefits: Better fuel efficiency - maintaining the correct tire pressure ensures better contact with the road and improves your gas mileage. Studies have shown about a 3% improvement Extended tire life - with less oxidation (due to the lack of oxygen) occurring, there's less damage to inner liners and rims. In the long run, you'll buy fewer tires! Increased safety - Air is constantly escaping from tires. With nitrogen in your tires, they'll maintain proper pressure longer. Tires that are properly inflated reduce blowouts and help your v ... read more

Do you know that you could save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars next time you receive a large estimate from your independent auto repair shop by asking one question? Just this past month, here at MMP, we had 2 opportunities to save our customers money and we did just that! 1) St Clair C., 2011 Dodge Durango – After coming to us with work done on his SUV while visiting St. Petersburg, Florida, we effected warranty repair since we and that original repair shop are both NAPA Auto Care Centers. We eventually discovered that there was an extended warranty on the entire driver’s side engine head assembly (including camshafts, cam phasers, lifters, and valves). We took the car to Gulfgate Dodge for the customer and they completed replacement of the entire head assembly within one week - all without any cost to the customer! 2) Sam P., 2008 Dodge Magnum – Car came into MMP for a no start condition. Initial diagnostic revealed a communication problem between the WINN ... read more
